Daniel by me

Some editorials begin long before the first frame is taken. Sometimes they begin in a conversation, sometimes in a feeling, and sometimes in a coincidence that does not quite feel accidental. This story with Daniel felt like one of those moments.

Shot in my new neighbourhood, this series unfolds between still water, open air, metal structures, and a quiet grey sky that gave the images a raw and honest atmosphere. Visually, the editorial moves between strength and softness. Daniel has a striking physical presence, but what interested me most was the calm behind it, the introspection, the sense of restraint. These photographs are not only about the body, but about what happens when presence meets silence.

The black and white frames strip everything down to shape, contrast, skin, and gesture. They feel clean, almost sculptural at times. In other moments, especially in the closer portraits and the images with wet hair and softer focus, the mood becomes more intimate, more vulnerable. That tension between masculinity and tenderness is where the story finds its pulse.

On the way to the location, Daniel and I had a beautiful conversation. Beyond modelling, he is also a young Dutch entrepreneur, someone building his own future with clarity and intention. There was something grounded about him, something focused but calm. The kind of energy that does not need to announce itself.

During that conversation, we landed on the idea that the universe has a strange way of arranging things so they happen exactly when they should. And what made that thought even more special was discovering that, without either of us knowing it at the time, Daniel had actually been working in my building just a week before. Our paths had already crossed, silently, before we truly met. It felt like one of those quiet reminders that some encounters are already on their way to you long before you notice them.

Working with Daniel was a pleasure. He brought discipline, presence, and an ease in front of the camera that allowed the images to breathe naturally. And maybe this story does not end here. Maybe, if the universe decides to keep moving things into place, I will see him again in Milan this year.
