When Dirk from Brooks Models arrived at the studio, he didn’t know my work. I showed him some of my editorials, and he immediately connected with the vibe. From that moment, he was fully open and ready to collaborate, which made the session flow with ease.
His long blond hair became the starting point to give this series a sense of freedom, inspired by the mood of 90s advertisements – when youth was shown as carefree, spontaneous, and a little rebellious. That detail, together with his casual look, shaped the direction of this editorial.
We played with the contrast between strength and softness: black and white portraits full of intensity, and color shots where Dirk’s natural freshness shines through effortlessly. The camera captured him in pure authenticity – moving between calm, introspection, and bursts of raw energy – with a magnetism that recalls those iconic campaigns that once filled billboards.
This series is, at its core, a tribute to the aesthetic freedom of the 90s, and to the simplicity of a look that doesn’t need extras to feel true.
I hope to work with Dirk again soon, as his energy and natural presence made this collaboration truly inspiring.
