Some people enter a room and do not need to do much to get your attention. Esteban has something like that. A calm presence, a sweet look, a face that seems to hold many stories, and a bright energy that appears little by little.

I had the pleasure of working with him a few years ago. Esteban is an Argentine gymnast, with a body shaped by discipline, training, and years of hard work. But what I remember the most about these photos is not only his body. It is his sensitivity.


Because some bodies can impress you. But some people stay with you.


Esteban arrived with curiosity, openness, and a real desire to learn. He was willing to understand my vision and let himself be guided by it. There was something very special about him: strength and softness at the same time, confidence and vulnerability, an obvious beauty, but never an empty one.


His face could catch the attention of the whole room, but his charm came from somewhere deeper. From the way he looked. From his calm energy. From that beautiful feeling of someone who is open to being seen.


During that session, we also spoke about his dreams as a gymnast. I remember listening to him talk about the things he wanted to achieve, the places he wanted to reach, and the person he was becoming. Now, after some time has passed, seeing that some of those dreams became real makes me truly happy.

I

remember this session with a lot of affection. The light coming through the window, the black and white tones, the quiet moments between one pose and the next. Some photos are born from control. Others are born from trust. These photos belong to the second group.


Esteban allowed himself to be seen without becoming hard. He allowed me to direct him without losing himself. He was present in front of the camera with an honesty that, for me, is always more powerful than any perfect pose.


These images are a small archive of that encounter: a strong body, yes, but also a kind gaze, an interesting life story, and a sensitivity that goes beyond the image.
